Beginning this Season

Well we are officially on our way to our new "season" of life.  While getting ready to leave our home of 14 years, figuring out what to pack and saying goodbye to our California friends and family - I caught a cold!  After taking multiple natural remedies and hoping it wouldn't get me, unfortunately it hit hard.  I haven't had one in years but I'm charging through!

Dave and I boarded a plane yesterday to our first destination, Florida.  While taking off from San Diego, the tears began to flow.  I am going to miss my children and my absolutely adorable grandchildren.  (Yes, I am a little prejudice and think I have the most adorable!)  We stopped here in Florida to say a temporary good-bye to Dave's parents, sister and her family, and my mom, sister and her family.  Then Sunday we will go to Tampa International Airport to begin the trip to Europe via Atlanta to Dusseldorf to pick up a car and then on to our new home away from home in Amsterdam.

This will be my first experience living in the city and in an apartment.  I have to say that I am excited to live perhaps a little simpler lifestyle.  I will not be driving in Amsterdam so it will be biking and walking for me.  (I will not miss interstate driving!)  And since food is an important part of who I am, I am excited to check out all the little markets and experience a brand new way of grocery shopping and preparing food.  I will not have an official "job" but I'm sure Dave will keep me busy with small administrative tasks that will need to be done before they have an admin assist hired.

Dave and I decided to have a relaxing day today and he took me out to lunch.  We sat right on Beach Boulevard in St. Petersburg looking at banyan trees, palm trees and the beautiful gulf waters.  It was in the 80s, not too humid and I am going to miss this warmth!!!

Well since I'm new at this blogging stuff I'm going to sign off for now but will check in soon again with news of the trip.
